In Search of Us
by Ava Dellaira
"In Search of Us" tells the story of two women, mother and daughter, when they are both at age 17. Marilyn, the mother, falls in love with Angie's father when she is 17. Angie, at 17, is searching for her father. She has never met her father or any of his side of the family.
Marilyn told her daughter that her father and her uncle both died in a car accident. One day Angie seems to find evidence that her uncle is alive. This makes her wonder that if her mother lied about her uncle having died in the car accident, could she have also lied about her father and the accident too?
This was a good story, I liked reading about mother and daughter at the same age. And I was curious as to what really happened to Angie's father. Was he dead? Had he just abandoned Marilyn when she was pregnant? Reading the story, I figured something had to have happened as during Marilyn's story, he came across as a good guy who wouldn't do that. If he knew he had a child, he would have been in the child's life, regardless if he was with Marilyn yet or not.
